My experience building Explore NB with Gemini API opened my eyes to how smart technology can elevate UX. From auto-suggestions to AI-generated plans, integrating machine learning felt like unlocking a superpower.

I’m not shifting away from frontend — I’m evolving with it. By combining design with intelligence, I aim to build apps that are not just interactive, but insightful.

Learning AI/ML has sharpened my thinking, enhanced my creativity, and given me a new lens to view user problems. This blend of tech is where I see my future.

Participating in the Hack-A-Verse Hackathon was a game-changing experience. As a team of passionate students, we came together to solve a real-world problem in just 24 hours — and that’s how Explore NB was born. Our mission was clear: make travel in North Bengal smarter, safer, and more personalized using the power of AI.

Project Highlights:

• Integrated Gemini API to generate dynamic, personalized travel itineraries.
• Built a reliable SOS system with nearby hospitals, police stations, and emergency contact tools.
• Added bike and car booking features directly into the site for ease of travel.
• Designed a clean, responsive frontend using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Delivered a live demo and proudly won the Beginner Champion award at the event.

Beyond building a product, this hackathon taught me valuable real-world skills. I learned how to lead and coordinate a team under pressure, break down complex tasks into simple steps, and manage time effectively. It sharpened my problem-solving mindset, strengthened my communication, and gave me confidence in presenting live demos in front of mentors and judges.

Explore NB is more than just a hackathon project — it’s proof that with teamwork, ideas, and a little bit of hustle, even first-year students can make something impactful. It also inspired me to take product thinking seriously and build for users, not just for code.

Many wait for experience before joining a hackathon — I chose to learn by doing. I jumped in early not for prizes, but for growth, exposure, and confidence.

Collaborating with teammates, solving real-world problems, and building live projects helped me learn faster than any textbook. It was intense, but it proved that passion beats perfection.

First-year hackathons weren’t a risk — they were a launchpad (I learned).

While CSE teaches the fundamentals of computing, I was drawn toward the future — and that’s where AI & ML lives. I didn’t just want to build systems, I wanted to build smart ones — that learn, adapt, and solve real problems.

From self-driving cars to health diagnosis apps, I believe AI will shape tomorrow, and I want to be a part of that transformation. Choosing AIML wasn’t just a decision; it was a step toward my dream of innovation.

It’s not about being different — it’s about being future-ready.

Coming from a small village where the word “engineering” often meant tractors or electric poles, stepping into the world of code felt like entering a new universe. With poor internet, no guidance, and only curiosity as fuel, I learned HTML under a tin roof, dreaming in Python when others barely knew what Wi-Fi was.
